Clausthaler and Arizona's Ktar Radio
“Putt for the beach” June 2002

Clausthaler non-alcoholic beer and AM radio station KTAR in Phoenix held a “Putt Your Way to Pebble Beach” putting contest at the Bashas grocery store in Scottsdale on July 10. Approximately 450 people sent in application forms to test their skill. The majority of the entrants filled in forms available at 70 Bashas locations around the state, with online registrations adding to the response. “It went great,” said Dave Deuser, western region sales manager for Binding Brauerei USA, the Norwalk, Conn., importer of Clausthaler. Adds Kevin Conrad of Southern Wine & Spirits in Tempe, Ariz., “It sounded terrific on-air, everyone that showed up had a good time, and finalists were able to sample Clausthaler.” All ten finalists received a goodie bag with a case of Clausthaler, six pilsner glasses, a gift certificate for two to the Legacy Golf Resort of Phoenix, a $25 gift certificate to Arrowzonee Golf and Tennis in nearby Glendale, a KTAR tee shirt, and an Arizona Diamondbacks CD. The contest took place at 10 a.m. with each of the contestants trying their hand at a ten-foot putt to place them in the running for the Pebble Beach trip. In the first round, all ten contestants missed, and a second round was required. A final contestant missed the 60-ft. putt by a mere seven inches.
