New York/Frankfurt am Main, July 3rd, 2000

Clausthaler, Europe's Number One among non-alcoholic malt beverages, received not one but two high international prizes at the renowned "World Beer Cup 2000" in New York.

At the award ceremony in New York on June 19th, the full-bodied, flavorful "Clausthaler Classic" won the "Gold Award 2000" in the category "Non Alcoholic (Beer) Malt Beverages". In the same category, the dry, hop-accented "Clausthaler Extra Herb" won the "Bronze Award 2000".

371 breweries from 39 countries took part in the "World Beer Cup 2000" competition that took place in Milwaukee in April. 1,127 beers and non-alcoholic malt beverages were tasted and evaluated by experts. The goal of the cup competition is to inform beer and non-alcoholic malt beverage drinkers all over the world about the quality and variety available in the international market, to discover quality differences and to honor outstanding brands. Experts, like the British beer author, Michael Jackson, have praised the high degree of professionalism in carrying out the tests at the "World Beer Cup". Such expertise establishes the standards for tomorrow's beers and non-alcoholic malt beverages.

The Binding-Brauerei is proud that Clausthaler was among the award recipients at this renowned competition. With these honors in the category "Non Alcoholic (Beer) Malt Beverages", Germany's most successful non-alcoholic malt beverage brand was again able to win out against international competition and prove that it is "simply the best".

Although the German non-alcoholic malt beverage segment is declining somewhat, Clausthaler was the undisputed market leader again last year with 39.1 percent, up from 38.5 percent in the previous year.

Internationally speaking, the brand is available in more than 50 countries around the world. High, internationally recognized product quality and unmatched taste stability, Clausthaler hallmarks, are the most important prerequisites for global export.
